We have a new chief Meteorologist at KAMR! Folks, his name is John Harris. He is our new chief meteorologist at KAMR/KCIT TV. He graduated from Metro state in Denver, CO with an atmospheric science degree. He has been forecasting in Amarillo for about 17 years. Yes, you can bank on the fact that he knows the panhandle like the back of his hand. In those 17 years, he has witnessed blizzards, strong tornadoes and everything in between. John's first aired forecast was last night (Mon) at the 10:00 newscast. It's safe to say that everyone was looking forward to that moment. We have been waiting for 6 months because of a non compete clause from another station. Well non compete clause, goodbye!
I feel so honored to chase for a guy of his caliber. I feel that he is the best all around meteorologist in Amarillo. He is well rounded in his forecasting abilities, and he is the same person off air that he is on air. I really look forward to this upcoming severe weather season because I know we have what it takes now to compete with the other stations. KFDA and KVII..you better bring your game when the severe weather season starts. You can guarantee we are!
For any readers of my blog that live in the viewing area, I have one thing to say. Give us a chance and watch because you will see what we have to offer. You will literally never turn back to the other stations.

Excellent...could not agree more. I've watched his weathercasts last night and right now as a matter of fact. The folks in the Panhandle region are in good hands. His on-air presentation is excellent, very polished and professional. No silly antics needed. :-)
I really love the new tools he has too like the Titan radar. I watched him do a quick demo on the newscast right now of the OKC storms. This is definitely cutting edge technology. That's just the tip of the iceburg though with more in store. Like you said, the competition won't know what hit them. :-)
I certainly hope that my employment situation stabilizes soon so that I can join the team!
I am in the viewing area, and I'm really thrilled about John coming to KAMR, which is "my" channel. I watched him at 10:00 last night, and again at 5:00 today. I am so glad he's on the KAMR team.
Do you know where Amy went? I cannot imagine a legit station watching her tapes and offering her a job. Dang, at first I thought she was just nervous but her voice never improved. Too bad.
Will be nice to go back home and chase for Ch4 again and will be great working with John. He is a class act I have always respected. My dad filling in as a "guest meteorologist" was just icing on the cake. He loved being back on air. People here still love him after all these years. He loved coming home and I can tell he will miss it.
Cant wait till we show them even more new toys we will bring to the field that the others wont have.
And goodbye Amy..woohooo and thank God!!
Boy, you guys said it all right there!
Steve, I really hope you're able to stay and be a part of this wonderful team.
Jay, your Dad is a class act buddy. I'm sooo glad I got a chance to meet him. Take him on some chases this year!
scoobagirl, I didn't hear where Amy went. I know she probably won't get a job in weather again. Who knows...
Thanks for being a viewer, we appreciate it. Just know that the team will give you full coverage when severe weather threatens. That includes myself being in the field and giving reports.
