Well, one word can describe yesterday's chase...BUSTOLA!!! Now let's focus on today and hope it turns out a little better. I'm not going to write a whole lot because I still need to get some things done before heading out. Today looks very promising to me. A low is progged to be near east central CO by 00Z. The warm sector will be blanketed by moisture as far north as the KS/NE border. The very high moisture content will be further south in KS and OK. Therefore, very high instability will get going later this afternoon.
The cap will play a factor in today's setup. The cap will be stronger the further south you are. I doubt if a storm gets going in northern OK, but if it does, very high instability will contribute to very larger hail and a possible tornado. Further north into KS, the cap will be somewhat weaker. I'm going to take a chance in this area today. I think a storm can get going with the daytime heating and instability along with the energy coming in around 0Z or so. I think the main threat will be large hail until around 3-6Z. This is when the LLJ is progged to really get going. An 850 LLJ of 50-60 knots isn't out of the question. If this happens, look out! I think there may be a relatively good chance at a strong to violent tornado today if the parameters come together as mentioned. Again, most likely around 3-6Z.
TARGET: HUTCHINSON, KS
